Many years ago, a school friend’s father taught his sons and myself the basic art of developing and printing monochrome images. I drifted into colour, via transparencies, and later onto Cibachrome colour printing – once described as standing in a warm bath and tearing up five-pound notes!
The turning point came when my wife needed a laundry room so I negotiated for a darkroom as part of the deal. This led me to concentrate on analogue photography, using a variety of film cameras, and exploring the subtle nature of monochrome. PPG is the antithesis of the usual camera club and this appealed to me at the outset when I was invited to join by the founding members.
My aim is to produce work and continue exploring the ability to paint with light.
